Graduate programs have social expectations that they teach & enforce, often without ever really talking about them. That's the "hidden curriculum". These teachings are typically rooted in "majority culture". We often don't even realize they have these expectations or notice their effects.
You know who does? Students. Especially those from minoritized backgrounds.
We need your help to figure out what the hidden curriculum is in PT, OT, and SLP graduate programs.
Who are you?
We're looking for PT/OT/SLP grad students in entry-level programs (at least 3 months into your program)
OR
Those who've graduated/exited a program recently (past 2 years)
What will you do?
What will you get?
Laura Wolford
PhD, MS CCC-SLP
I'm a multi-racial (Taiwanese, Chinese, and white), queer, neurodivergent and disabled cisgender woman. I'm an SLP who believes in the power of building communities.
As a person with many "passing privileges", my minoritized identities are often overlooked. This brings with it some safety but also erasure. I find myself having to "come out" again and again in my very homogenous field.
Callie Watkins Liu
PhD, MRP
I hold several overlapping professional identities that come together in my current role as the Director of JEDI Education and Programs, in the Office of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) at the MGH Institute of Health Professions (MGH IHP).
I am a multi-lingual, cisgender Black American and Cape Verdean American woman. I joined the MGH IHP in 2020, and in addition to my role at the IHP, I also enjoy goats and cubing.
Mirza J. Lugo-Neris

I’m a bilingual (Spanish-English), bi-cultural, multi-ethnic Puerto Rican cisgender woman who is also an SLP.
I am passionate about mentoring students while honoring their backgrounds and supporting their individual needs.
